UZBEKISTAN AND AZERBAIJAN TO HOST THE FIFA U-20 WORLD CUP IN 2027

From 17 September to 9 October 2027, the two countries will host one of the major international tournaments in youth football.

Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan will jointly host the FIFA U-20 World Cup 2027. The tournament is scheduled to take place from 17 September to 9 October 2027 and will bring together 24 national teams from around the world.

The announcement marks an important milestone for the region’s sporting calendar. The tournament will give talented young footballers the opportunity to compete on the international stage while allowing the host countries to showcase their ability to organise major sporting events.

For Uzbekistan, the championship also presents an opportunity to attract greater international attention to the country, its cultural heritage, historic cities and tourism potential. The anticipated interest from football fans, team representatives and sports delegations could create additional opportunities for the hospitality sector, transport services and inbound tourism.

Beyond the sporting competition, the FIFA U-20 World Cup could encourage international visitors to discover Uzbekistan — a country renowned for its rich history, remarkable architecture and traditions of hospitality.
